About us...
Rebuilding Together Washtenaw, Inc. (formerly known as Christmas in April Washtenaw) is an affiliate of Rebuilding Together, a nationwide non-profit organization. We are dedicated to providing low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners FREE home repairs using volunteer services.
The focus of our activities is an annual one-day event held on the last Saturday in April, where many dedicated volunteers and skilled trades people from area businesses serving the community spend the day:
- Installing new furnaces, water heaters and cabinets
- Building handicapped ramps
- Repairing plumbing
- Upgrading and repairing electrical services
- Painting, plastering, and trash removal
These improvements allow the owners to live in their homes safely.
Rebuilding Together Washtenaw is a nonsectarian, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Organized in 1992, we have repaired over 500 houses with more than 5,000 volunteers. Additionally, all of our board members, area leaders, and house captains are volunteers.
